Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about short wedding photography

Short Wedding Stories offers flexible wedding photography by the hour, from 90 minutes to 6 hours, for micro weddings, elopements, registry office weddings, vow renewals and smaller celebrations across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire.

How much wedding photography coverage do we need?

You can book me from 90 minutes up to 6 hours, depending on what you want photographed.

90 minutes can work brilliantly for a ceremony, a few group photos and some time together afterwards.

Two or three hours gives you more room for things like confetti, drinks, portraits, guests and the beginning of your reception.

Four to six hours works well for longer celebrations where you might also want speeches, food or more of the party included.

If you are not sure how long you need, tell me what you have planned and I can help you work it out.

Can we book you for just our ceremony?

Absolutely.

Short Wedding Stories was created specifically for weddings that do not need a photographer for the whole day.

You can book from 90 minutes, so ceremony-only photography, registry office weddings and smaller celebrations are very welcome.

Do you photograph micro weddings and elopements?

Yes. Micro weddings, elopements, vow renewals and intimate weddings are exactly what Short Wedding Stories is for.

Your wedding does not need a huge guest list or an all-day timetable to deserve brilliant photographs.

Do you photograph registry office weddings?

Yes.

Registry office weddings work particularly well with shorter photography coverage. We can photograph the ceremony, guests arriving, confetti or celebrations outside, group photos and some time together afterwards.

Can we still have group photos?

Of course.

I mainly focus on people, moments and what is actually happening, but that does not mean you cannot have group photos.

For shorter weddings, I recommend keeping the list fairly compact so you are not spending a huge chunk of your booked time organising people.

What if we feel awkward in front of the camera?

You are in very good company.

Most people I photograph tell me they are awkward, hate having their photo taken or have no idea what to do with their hands.

I will give you direction when you need it, without turning your wedding into a long posing session. We might go for a wander, have a chat and make some photographs while you concentrate on each other rather than the camera.

How many wedding photographs will we receive?

I do not put a fixed cap on the number of photographs you receive because every wedding is different.

The final number depends on the length of your coverage, number of guests and what is happening during that time.

Everything worth delivering is individually edited and included in your final gallery.

How will we receive our wedding photographs?

Your finished photographs are delivered through a private online gallery where you can download them, share them with family and friends and order prints.

I usually send a small preview within around one week.

Your full gallery is normally delivered within 6 to 8 weeks, although this can occasionally extend during the busiest part of wedding season.

RAW files are not supplied.

Can we add more photography time later?

Usually, yes.

If you realise before the wedding that you need a little longer, extra coverage can be added subject to availability.

If my schedule allows, you may also be able to extend your coverage on the day.

How far do you travel for short weddings?

Short Wedding Stories covers weddings across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire, including the New Forest and Salisbury area.

Travel within approximately 1.5 hours of BH21 is included for shorter wedding coverage.

If you are planning something a little further away, get in touch and tell me where you are going.

What equipment do you use?

I photograph weddings using professional Nikon full-frame mirrorless cameras with dual memory cards and professional lenses.

I also bring backup equipment, and your photographs are backed up after the wedding before the memory cards are reused.

Will you heavily retouch our photographs?

No.

My editing is colourful and natural to the day.

I may remove temporary blemishes, but I do not reshape bodies, slim people or heavily alter how somebody looks.

You should still look like you.

How do we book?

First, send me your date, location and roughly how much photography coverage you think you might need.

We can then have a quick chat to make sure Short Wedding Stories is right for what you are planning.

A signed contract and 25% booking fee secures your date, with the remaining balance due 30 days before the wedding.

Dates are not held without the signed contract and booking fee.

How do we pay?

Payment is by bank transfer.

A 25% booking fee secures your date and the remaining balance is due 30 days before your wedding.

Planning something small?

Whether it is a registry office ceremony, micro wedding, elopement, vow renewal or a few brilliant hours with your favourite people, you can book wedding photography from 90 minutes to 6 hours.
